It doesn't advertise support for variable refresh rate technologies, such as AMD FreeSync or Nvidia G-Sync, and my Nvidia video card didn't detect it as G-Sync compatible. Gamers, beware: the C3422WE has a standard 60Hz refresh rate. ![]() The monitor's display coating claims to be anti-glare but looks more semi-gloss, so it's best to turn off any bright room lights that sit behind you. I used the monitor at 60 percent of maximum during the day and turned it down to 50 percent at night. Maximum brightness isn't high, but it's more than adequate for a home office. A 4K monitor will look sharper still, but the C3422WE is an impressive upgrade over a typical 1080p monitor. That works out to 109 pixels per inch, which looks great from a typical viewing distance of three feet. It's a sharp monitor, with a native resolution of 3,440 x 1,440. Still, it will meet the needs of photographers and video editors who work primarily on content for YouTube and social media. It only covers 87 percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut, a color standard used by many film studios, and its color accuracy isn't at the top of its class. The C3422WE straddles the line between office and professional monitor. It also has decent contrast for a display of this type, creating a sense of depth in video and improving the legibility of high-contrast text. The C3422WE's color is vibrant yet accurate, which translates to a realistic and attractive image. My instrumented tests came back positive across the board. Yet it remains an impressive display that ranks among the better ultrawide monitors available today. The Dell C3422WE doesn't earn the company's Ultrasharp brand label, which it reserves for its most color accurate displays. Still, the menu is easy to navigate and logically arranged, which is all most people could ask for. ![]() The C3422WE lacks the advanced features found on Dell's Ultrasharp monitor line, such as the Dell UltraSharp 34 U3421WE. The joystick can adjust brightness and contrast, change inputs, and switch color modes. You'll find the power button around the monitor's right flank along with a joystick that controls the monitor's on-screen menu. Yes, there's a Microsoft Teams button, and yes, it really does launch the Teams app (if you have it installed). The first set, found on the left side of the soundbar, are touch-sensitive and control the built-in speakers, microphone, and to launch Microsoft Teams. The monitor has two sets of controls, which can be a little confusing. There are no drivers or software to install. Then, simply place the monitor on your desk and add power, a display connection, and peripherals. You'll remove the stand first, then attach the stand to the back of the monitor and use it as a handle to lift the display panel. Setting up the C3422WE is simple, as with most monitors.
